K. Arsenyev “Across the Ussuri Region” and “Dersu Uzala”. The director's first film is not in Japanese, and at the same time the only one shot by him on 70-mm large-format film. The film explores the theme of a native of the forests who is fully integrated into his environment, leading a style of life that will inevitably be destroyed by the advance of civilization. It is also about the growth of respect and deep friendship between two men of profoundly different backgrounds, and about the difficulty of coping with the loss of strength and ability that comes with old age. In February 1971, Soviet director S. A. Gerasimov, during a visit to Japan, made an offer to Akira Kurosawa to shoot a film in the USSR. $ 4 million was spent on the creation of the film. It sold 20.4 million tickets in the Soviet Union and made $1.2 million in the US and Canada. Some scenes of the film were filmed in Moscow on the territory of the former village of Volynskoe (now the Ochakovo-Matveevskoe and Fili-Davydkovo districts of the Moscow city). The film won the 1976 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, the Golden Prize and the Prix FIPRESCI at the 9th Moscow International Film Festival and a number of other awards - please see "Awards" tab. The shooting of the film in 1974 caused a negative reaction in the PRC The plot of the film is based on the novel of the same name by the scientist and writer, famous traveler and explorer of the Far East Vladimir Arsenyev - about his travels in the Ussuriysk region and friendship with the taiga hunter Dersu Uzala, whose extraordinary personal qualities admired V. Arsenyev. Their journey through the Ussuri taiga, full of dangerous adventures, forms the basis of the film's plot, but the meaning of the narration goes far beyond the plot. Time of action - 1902-1908. The chronology of events in the film is observed only as a whole, for example, a number of details, according to the book "Across the Ussuriysk Territory" referring to 1906, are shown in the first part, among those that took place in 1902. Added a scene in the camp of Chinese robbers - hunghuzes, while according to the book, only Dersu approached the camp and, noticed by the hunghuzes, entered into a firefight with them. ☆ Maksim Munzuk (in the title role as Dersu Uzala), ☆ Yuriy Solomin ☆Mikhail Bychkov, ☆ Vladmir Kremena, ☆ Dmitri Korshikov, ☆ Svetlana Danilchenko www.imdb.com/title/tt0071411/ 1975 - Gold Prize and FIPRESCI Prize at the IX Moscow Film Festival 1976 - Academy Award for Best Foreign Film Screened in the USA 1976 - Prize "Jussi" and a diploma of the Association of Finnish Critics to the Soviet joint-stock company "Kosmos-Filmi" in Finland for the release of the film on the screens of the country 1977 - Two prizes "David di Donatello": for the best directing of a foreign film (Akira Kurosawa) and "Special David" for the quality of production ("Mosfilm") 1977 - Italian National Film Journalists Syndicate Silver Ribbon Award for Best Director of a Foreign Film (Akira Kurosawa) 1977 - Special Prize of the National Association of Writers and Screenwriters of Spain for the best foreign film screened in the country 1977 - Prize of the Spanish Film Critics Union for the best foreign film (together with the film "Barry Lyndon") French Film Critics Award for Best Actor (Maxim Munzuk) 1980 - Best Film Among Films of the 1970s, Peruvian Film Critics Poll facebook.com\sovietartposters Listing and template services provided by inkFrog
