Description: Very well crafted museum reproduction of one of Michelangelo's last Pieta sculptures, "The Deposition", which depicts the dead body of Christ in the arms of the Virgin Mary surrounded by Mary Magdalene and Nicodemus. This vintage reproduction was made in Italy. It's cast in bonded marble (a mix of marble, alabaster and resin) with very good detail, and the back is inscribed "A. GIANNETTI". It stands almost 6" tall on a 2.5" square base, and weighs 1lb. It's in very good condition with no cracks or chips. The "Deposition", also known as the Florence Pieta, is one of the harder to find Pieta reproductions. The real 16th century marble sculpture resides in the Duomo Museum in Florence, Italy, and the face of Nicodemus under the hood is said to be the self-portrait of Michelangelo.
