Delaware OH 7505 Complete Set Delaware Nat'l Bank Lg&Sm Size notes (5 notes) VF

Description: First time offered; never before assembled! A complete set of Delaware OH Charter #7505 Delaware National Bank in $10 & $20 denominations in both LARGE & SMALL size banknotes. This set is very evenly matched for grade - - the Red Seal is the highest known grade of the two known: VF-25(PMG); three of these notes are VF(30) by census, and the $20 Blue Seal is VF-30 by PMG. Complete sets are difficult to assemble and even more rare when offered together. Truly, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity The Delaware National Bank of Ohio, charter #7505, was chartered December of 1904. It was the third national bank located in Delaware. This bank has about 17 large size notes known, broken down as follows: 2 $10 02RS; 10 $10 02PBs; and 5 $20 02PBs. This bank only issued $10s and $20s in the 1902 Series and 1929 Series. The two Red Seals known are the only denomination known on this bank: no $20 Red Seals known to exist. These two notes are the key to this complete set of The Delaware National Bank. No earlier notes were issued since it was chartered in December of 1904 and would not qualify for any issue of the 1882 series. There were less than 12,000 Red Seal $10 notes issued and only TWO are known to survive. The maximum number of sets is limited to a mere TWO because of the known population of the Red Seals. This Red Seal is NEW to the Census and is significantly better in condition than the previously known example. The other RS note is a F(15) - - - NOT TPGed and is pictured here. It brought $1150 at auction in October of 2010. The other Red Seal, serial #2285A, is NOT part of this sale. It is pictured here for comparison purposes only. There is a fourth bank as well, but it only issued small size notes. The second bank, The Delaware County National Bank, charter 853, only issued Original issues, 1875 issues and 1882 Brownback notes. Only 7 1882 Brownbacks are known for that second bank. For practical purposes, only Charter 243, The First National Bank of Delaware and this bank, The National Bank of Delaware, Charter 7505, have sufficient numbers for the collecting public. Dating: The Red Seal is hand signed by E.I. Pollock as the cashier and V.T. Mills as president. Their joint term of office was between 1907 and 1911. There was an earlier president on this bank, S. Moore, but hitherto, no note bears his signature. If it exists, it too, would be a Red Seal. The $10 Large note is rubber stamped signed by W.B. Galleher as cashier, and T.M. Thomson as president. Based on the signatures and absence of regional sorting letter, this note had to be issued between 1922 and March 14, 1924, a short span of less than 2 years. Further, this $10 note is also new to the census. The $20 Large note is hand signed by the president, E. I. Pollock. Based on the scans of the other $20 notes in the census, NO OTHER note has been signed by this president. To our knowledge there is only one other $10 Large note which was hand signed by this president and it is a VF-35(PMG.) His dates of office were from September 4th, 1912 through 1920. Since the Blue Seals started June 30th, 1915, the window for signing by Mr. Pollock as president was a short five years. Grading: The two censi do not agree on grading of the $10 large size notes. One shows 2 EFs (not TPGed) and one VF-35 by PMG. The other shows highest known is the VF-35(PMG) This $10 note, conservatively graded would be a VF(30.) It has no design/cutting flaws nor restorations as the other VF(30)s have. Just even wear with white paper without soiling. Just a bit too many folds to be a VF-35. The two small size notes, $10 & $20 would both be conservatively graded as VF(30.) One census has the $10 note listed as EF, which it is not, in this seller's opinion. The $20 is listed as a Choice VF. There are two folds on the $20; one vertical and the other horizontal. Pricing: Before the appearance of this $10 Red Seal, the prior note (Fine) brought $1150 in October of 2010. By extrapolation, with the rise in the market and significant betterment in grade, this note along ought to be worth +/- $1920. This note was previously offered here on eBay at an unrealistic price of $3500. As you will see this entire 5 piece set is priced less than that! The last $10 Large size note VF-30(PMG) brought $475 in April 2022 here on eBay. Unfortunately, there is no picture of this note for comparison. But clearly, this note is in the same category but not TPGed. As such this note is fairly priced at $490. It is the only $10 note which has no cutting flaws nor restorations: this note has complete printing. The $20 note, of which there are a mere five (5) known, is tied for the highest known grade, but this is TPGed while the other is not. It was part of the Don Kelly Collection which sold in 2011 for $260. This note is clearly worth more than the $10 note, so we have estimated it at $569. The small size notes are in better than average condition for these notes. Our estimation is that they would be graded as a VF(30) by a TPGer. Both are listed in the census a Choice Very Fine. The last EF (not TPGed) brought $345 in March of 2009. This $10 note is the third highest graded note. Also, please note for the sake of transparency, the $20 note has not been properly inked on the right charter number. Surely this evenly matched pair is worth $500+. We have price this unique set at $3479. N.B. Delaware County is one of the fastest growing counties in Ohio. The median price for houses is presently higher than the median price of houses in Franklin County, part of the metropolitan area of Columbus. In fact, it is the highest median price for houses of any other county in Ohio. The possibility of well heeled citizens of Delaware County seeking to acquire this set of banknotes in the future is significant. With this description, perhaps we can bring history alive to you and let you genuinely touch a piece of it. Anyone can offer a banknote. But we strive to bring history alive to the new owner of this piece of banking history. A copy of the description will accompany all orders for your future reference. Quality is like oats: it is cheaper after the horse than before. Always, always buy quality. It is what gains the fastest in price. Good notes are not cheap, and cheap notes are not good. Quality, QUALITY, QUALITY © 2024 MacuquinaAs always, shipping by this seller is gratis/free. Questions? Please feel free to ask. We are always willing to expand knowledge and pass it to others. Knowledge is the key to intelligent collecting. All scans of these notes are made without photoshop nor light adjustment. The notes you will receive will be these exact notes. Serial numbers will be EXACTLY the same. N.B. Sales tax may be an issue for you when purchasing. Depending upon the state of delivery, you may have sales tax, you may have none, or you may subject to a threshold tax. PLEASE ASK. Ebay tells me they are prepared to give refunds for states which have no tax. even though a sales tax may be implemented at the time of sale. This seller will always assist you. I have the information on the sales tax applicability for each state. So please consult me. I have been instrumental in obtaining over $10,000 in sales tax refunds for my eBay clients. My service for this is FREE to my clients. My personal issue: sales tax is a levy on tangible personal property. By definition, all money is intangible, so why should it be taxed at all? Ever! These five notes have no tears, pinholes nor ink stains. P.S.: If you are wondering why a dealer from Miami, Florida is dealing in Ohio National Currency, it is because I spend about 6 months of the year in Ohio, as well. In Ohio, I am known as a dealer’s dealer and am consulted by other dealers and financial institutions for price guidance and as an acquisition specialist. The point is: my prices are NOT taken out of the air. They are carefully decided by the market and rationality.
