Description: Here is a very nice Dedham Pottery rabbit border humidor. The 1938 catalog says Tobacco Jar (used for cookie jars). It has deep blue color and fine even crackle. It measures 6 1/4 inches high and 6 inches in diameter. Marked with the blue ink mark (registered), and Dedham Tercentenary 1636-1936. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs, just some in the making indiscretions around the finial and at the mold lines of the jar. Hugh Robertson was fascinated by Asian ceramics and glazes, in particular the Chinese oxblood red. This is Hugh's version of Chinese crackleware and was made to keep the firm afloat. He died in 1908. A good more unusual piece of authentic Dedham pottery.
