Giovanni Santini and his buildings Buildings designed by Giovanni Santini: the Chapel of St. Anne in Panenské Břežany the chateau Church of the Holy Trinity in Rychnov nad Kněžnou the pilgrimage Church of St. John of Nepomuk in Žďár nad Sázavou The sheet is designed in the Baroque style, with an axial composition of three stamps depicting buildings designed by Giovanni Santini. The stamp designer took the axial ground plan of Rychnov nad Kněžnou Chateau and placed it in the centre of the sheet. It is shown from a bird’s eye view to make the whole plan stand out. The stamp in the middle features the facade of the Church of the Holy Trinity, rising on the horizon. The stamp on the left depicts the Chapel of St. Anne in Panenské Břežany, the stamp on the right shows the pilgrimage Church of St. John of Nepomuk in Žďár nad Sázavou. These buildings are also captured from a height to achieve consistency. Both stamps are accompanied by their floor plans, revealing Santini’s fondness for numbers and geometry. The technique chosen for the original designs was a pencil drawing supplemented with crayons.
