Description: This listing is for the - KK4HXJ - Deluxe BK Series assembled test probe set This BK series probe is one of the most widely used models of probes that I make, fitting a dozen or more VTVM's from several manufacturers, while most of the other series of probes I build are very specialized to one model or maker This auction is for a completely assembled set of test probes for most Vacuum Tube Volt Meters that use a Switchcraft 2501F Connector and a detachable ground lead with Banana Plug. This is hand assembled by me using my methods and good attention to detail. The BK probes work with many meters Including: B&K 175/177 Paco V-70 RCA Voltohmist WV-98A / WV-98B / WV-98C / WV-87A / WV-77C /WV-77A Eico 222/232/235/249 (Eico 222, Knight KG-694 & all RCA meters have a non-detachable ground wire) Knight KG-625 & KG-694 Lafayette KT-174 and Many Others! (Change the Banana plug to a pin tip plug and it will also fit Triplett 850 meter) The unit is presented in a Labeled, Retail Quality, Reusable, 4 Mil Poly Ziplock Bag and is wrapped with a Reusable Velcro Strip to keep the leads organized and ready. This dual probe setup, serves as a substitute for the mostly missing or incomplete original test probe which used a switch in the probe body or at the tip of the probe (depending upon manufacturer) to switch the Resistor in/out of the circuit. This Siamese or Dual-Probe arrangement involves using one probe for DC Measurement (with the resistor installed) and the other probe for AC/Ohms Measurement. A seperate Ground Lead with Banana Plug and Alligator Clip is Provided, If your meter has a non-detachable Ground, you can use this wire to replace it by removing the banana plug and soldering the pre-tinned lead inside the meter. The probes are built from the following components: 1 Pair of Genuine Philmore Test Probes - 1 Red/1 Black 1 Geniune Switchcraft 2501F Connector 1 1Meg Ohm 1 Watt Resistor 1 Alligator Clip & Heat Shrink Tubing 2 Laminated Self Adhesive Probe Labels and Clear Heat Shrink Tubing to cover the probe labels, resulting in a professional and durable setup (see photos) 2 36" lengths of RG174 Coaxial Wire (used for DC & AC/Ohms test Leads) (Very Flexible - makes a great test lead) 1 36" Length of 18 Gauge Rubber Test Lead Wire (Very Flexible - High Quality) for the Ground Lead which is terminad on the other end with a standard Banana Connector The original instructions specify shielded cable for the leads, the original supplied wire was a coaxial microphone style wire, many people use either standard (unshielded) test probe wire for the leads or a shielded coaxial cable, I use shielded black RG174 for the 2 leads and Black test probe wire for the ground. I Use these probes on my RCA Volthomist WV-98C, Eico 249 and Paco V-70 meters with excellent results, and these meters are indispensible for working on Vintage Radio Gear (And I prefer them to my more modern FET meters for this type of work) I have shipped these probes and kits to several dozen countries and have received nothing but praise for bot the kits and probes, I think you too will be pleased with this simple and durable set to get that old meter back in service!
