Description: CTHULHU'S COUSINS and Other Weirdnesses by W. Paul Ganley (Wildside Press 2016) This is a new trade paperback book. It features a number of short and long stories influenced strongly by the Lovecraft mythos, and a number of short and long stories influenced by other authors such as Robert E. Howard and Clark Ashton Smith. They were written by me over a long period of time, and some were never even submitted anywhere (I wrote them for my own amusement). Others were published in such places as Meade Frierson's HPL, Crypt of Cthulhu, Eldritch Tales, etc (see photograph #3). Of course I'll sign your copy for you if you ask me to. There's no way that I can tell you that I am a great writer and these are superb stories and you should buy the book!! I'd turn bright red-faced and my fingers wouldn't be able to type because they'd be curling up and shaking. At the conventions, I let my wife Terry say those things (I made sure to take my hearing aids out of my ears or I'd have turned reddish purple while listening — as it was, I was at least pink colored) and she sold lots of copies. Well, maybe there is a way to do it... I'll just quote some reviews. Here's a customer review that I found on Amazon for my ebook version (I have no ebooks available in my eBay store; sorry): Five asterisks: Interesting book. Well written stories. I enjoyed it. But later on (2019) I found two more. There's now a four-asterisk review (also on Amazon for the ebook; they aren't shown for the regular book): W. Paul Ganley is a prolific publisher and editor of science fiction, poetry and horror fanzines and a pulp author in his own right. Cthulhu's Cousins and Other Weirdnesses collects a baker's dozen of stories that cover the gamut of dark fantasy, sword, and sorcery, and tales based in H. P. Lovecraft's Mythos. The collection reads like the best of the old pulps from the 40's and 50's and though a few of the the stories may seem somewhat contrived, Ganley is a master of writing an ending that comes out of the blue leaving you delighted and surprised at the final twist. Several of the sword and sorcery stories take place in a shared universe: The Great Hero, In The Temple of Phthathnee, and the closing duet of The Cube of Xanthes: The Finger of Xanthes and The Cube of Xanthes: The City of Joy. Though Ganley's Mythos stories are reminiscent of August Derleth and his sword and sorcery very much written in the style of Clark Ashton Smith, the stories are not pastiches, but unique to Ganley's own personal style. And Wow! FINALLY A REVIEW ON GOODREADS! A five asterisk review, but I'll just quote the first paragraph here: The stories of W. Paul Ganley combine rational narratives and dialogue with insane situations, twisting horror into a separate weirdness; at once comfortingly familiar and yet unnerving in settings and action. Each of the thirteen stories in this book (I have a signed paperback copy) are engaging and thought-provoking. The last is actually a continuation of its predecessor and it was my favorite, as it explores delineations between dreaming and being a ghost.
