Description: Here we offer something very special. It is a fossil leg bone of Cro Magnon. The bone is a left side femur. It was found in a gravel pit near Wysocko, on the former course of the river San in the Przemysl region in Poland . At this location one can also find many pleistocene animal bones like Mammoth, Bison, Rhinoceros, Megaloceros, etc. This bone belonged to a male and adult individual. It is very heavy - clearly re-mineralized, it weighs a considerable 370 grams. The Spongiosa is very dense and the bone shows strong muscle marks in the lower area of the Linea aspera which indicates clear physical strain - perhaps when carrying heavy loads or in difficult terrain. The fossil has been found in a depth of about 15 meters below the ground. It is very dark in colour, massive and heavily mineralized. These kind of fossils are extreme rare finds, the preservation of this one is fantastic. It is still in its natural condition, just as found - we even did not clean it with water. The fossil is unbroken and has no manipulations at all. We explicitly point out that this bone is a FOSSIL - many thousand years old - and NOT a bone from nowadays. The exact age could be determined by using a C-14 analysis (which is possible as the bone still is in natural condition - just as found -, no lacquer or any other treatment have been done) SHIPPING: Please note that shipping to the US (fully insured and traceable) is US$ 69,-.
