In Swan Song, not one highbrow is creased with care at the gruesome sight of opera star Edwin Shorthouse's gin-soaked corpse swinging slowly from a hangman's noose. When Oxford don Gervase Fen is called in to investigate, he discovers that the fiendishly lecherous Shorthouse had enraged every member of the company. Another suspicious death reveals a clue that helps the fearless Fen solve a brilliantly executed locked-room murder.
