Description: Countdown, An Autobiography of Apollo Astronaut Frank Borman! Autographed, 1st Edition, 1st Printing! Air Force Colonel Frank Borman was a Group 2, or Next Nine astronaut selection. He would command two historic missions as NASA raced to beat the then Soviet Union in the race to the moon. Borman commanded Gemini 7 launched on December 1965. This was a two-week marathon with pilot Jim Lovell. The primary purpose was to determine the physical effects of the two-week mission length for a lunar flight. The flight also featured a rendezvous with Gemini 6. Borman’s final flight was as commander of Apollo 8. This mission sent Borman, Lovell and Bill Anders on a lunar flight and orbit of the moon. One of the most famous photographs of the entire space program was one call Earthrise. It showed a beautiful blue and brown Earth over the start lunar surface. For the first time we saw the Earth as the tiny sphere in the vastness of space. It helped spur the environment movement. Apollo 8 also featured the astronauts reading from Genesis on Christmas of 1968. Borman passed away on November 7th, 2023, at age 95. But his legacy lives on in the early history of the space program. This is a book he wrote with Robert Serling in 1988. The hardback book is 448 pages with photographs and index. The book and hard cover are in mint condition and is signed by Borman on the title page. Long out of print and with Colonel Borman’s passing, this is a unique treasure for your library. This is his actual autograph, not a copy or autopen. Bid with confidence, your purchase price and shipping are cheerfully refunded if not totally satisfied with the book. I’ve been on Ebay since November 1999 and find it time to pass along my collection to a new generation of space enthusiasts. The winning bidder will pay a $14 priority shipping, international shipping is $25. The book is wrapped in bubble wrap for protected shipping. Thank you for looking at my auction and good luck with your bidding. Bill Ownbey
