Description: A complete set with a ladle! This is a sauce/soup tureen with cover, under plate and ladle. The pattern is the highly desired Cracked Ice and Prunus, scalloped edge pattern. This version of the pattern dates as early as 1914 (Pattern #637556). Typically these pieces have an impressed mark indicating the year it was made however, this piece does not have one. The original Cracked Ice and Prunus pieces go back to the 1820's where pattern covered all visible areas (not solely on the rim). This sauce tureen was likely made in conjunction with other pieces that were purchased from the same estate. At the time of this posting I have 3 different size dishes and another covered dish piece all obtained from the same estate. These pieces have a date stamp of 1932. The original inspiration for this pattern was derived from an 18th century Chinese Porcelain design portraying the coming Chinese New Year. It portrayed the end of winter and the start of spring, with the cracking ice and Cherry Trees in bloom in the foreground. The diameter of the under plate is 6.5". The height of the tureen and lid is 5.5". The diameter of the tureen is 5.75" and the length of the ladle is 6" long.
