Description: Photographers and camera collectors all over the world have been familiar for decades with Afga, a German-Belgian company that has made cameras, film, photo accessories and imaging devices for more than 135 years. This camera is a rare gem: it was one of the first consumer available digital cameras. It was among a handful of cameras that really created a stir in 1996 when it was announced that consumers could own a camera that did not require film or processing. Followed immediately by the blossoming of the digital camera industry and now the digital camera that is loaded in every smart phone, this camera was truly a trend setter, but was also quite expensive... more than $200 new in 1996 dollars. It really simply looked like a standard point and shoot film camera of the 1990s, but upon closer inspection it is digital. You will probably never see another one of these. Perfect mint condition and comes with original instruction sheet and case. Here are some cool facts: this camera's resolution is a whopping .35 megapixels. That is point 35. It runs on AA alkaline batteries. It still works perfectly. When you turn it on, the display shows brackets, which means, if you want to actually use it, you will need to insert a smartmedia card (cost about $15 on ebay). If you have a smart media card, a smart media card reader and some batteries, you can actually make pictures! Since I have mostly used it as part of my collection and not for taking pictures, I only have the camera but the other items are available on ebay. This camera has been in the center of my lifelong camera collection for many years and on display in my office, but I recently retired and it is time to let someone else enjoy it. Fast free shipping!
