Description: Stockinette Cloth 8.5" Ravca Type Charley Weaver Doll Cliff Arquett ~ Comedian This is a one of a kind, handmade, Charley Weaver doll. The style is very Bernard Ravca like but I can't find any markings to confirm that this is his work. This doll's needle-sculpted stockinet face is well modeled. It has very detailed eyebrows, hair, felt hat, wire rimmed glasses, eyes, mustache, suspenders, tie, white shirt, leather like shoes and trousers. The doll's facial detailing is a "miniature portrait" of this hilarious comedian! The doll will come with the stand seen in the photo. This stand did not come with the doll originally. The stand is removable from the doll. About this artistArquette, as Charley Weaver, hosted Charley Weaver's Hobby Lobby on ABC from September 30, 1959 to March 23, 1960. He also appeared as Charley Weaver on The Roy Rogers and Dale Evan Show (September 29 to December 29, 1962) In his Charley Weaver persona, Arquette also became a regular on the original version of the classic game show The Hollywood Squares, placed in an oft-visited "square," on lower left, to give him a good deal of comic opportunities. In 1960, Arquette was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. ConditionThis vintage doll is in very good condition. The doll's white shirt has faded in color from a white to a light tan. There is a small hole about the size of a pin head near Charlie's shoulder blade where it appears to have had a plastic price tag originally attached (please review the fourth photo). The doll stand (not originally part of the doll) has a some cracks on the bottom of the stand that cannot be seen from the top of the stand which is covered in felt.
