You are looking at a vintage 1920's prewar American Flyer O gauge tunnel. During this era, they were often made largely of a thick paper material simialr to paper mache, then handpainted. There were many different ones made by Flyer in those days--different sizes and slight design variations. THIS ONE has the part number written on the inside in the old school pricing crayon hobby stores used back then "101-240" and 95 cents. So cool! While there ARE a series of tunnels numbered in the 240s, I have not seen one numbered 240. The closest I have seen is #242. This tunnel measures approximately 10" long, 10" wide outside to outside, About 7 inches tallThe inside of the opening (measured one opening--other may vary a little): 6.75" wide and a hair under 5 1/8" tall. This tunnel is really good looking. The colors looks great. It is perfect for Christmas, but really looks good on any O gauge layout ANY time of the year. This one was used by Lionel, Marx, and Flyer fans. Great with O or even S! FEATURES: 7" High Footprint is 10" x 10"The inside of the opening (measured one opening--other may vary a little): 6.75" wide and a hair under 5 1/8" tall. Paper Mache construction with solid hard cardboard understructure Cool texture 1920s Mountian vista and road on the sides CONDITION: C-7. Really much cleaner than most of these you come across.
