Child’s Vintage 1950s Dark Teal Mexican Tourist/Souvenir Embroidered Jacket

Description: This listing is for a Beautiful Child’s Vintage 1950s Dark Teal Mexican Tourist/Souvenir Embroidered Jacket This is an iconic Mexican jacket that was made for the tourists visiting Mexico in the 1940s to the 1960s. It is a dark teal colored wool felt with appliquéd villagers, cacti, agaves, jars, and flags on the front. The back of the jacket has the historical figures of the China Poblana and Vaquero dancing couple. The appliqué work on this dancing couple is one of the most elaborate works of art that I have seen on a child's jacket. There is pink and white cross stitching around the collar, down the front and around the bottom as well as around the two pockets and cuffs. This is a lovely example of this design for children's jackets. This jacket is in excellent condition with no holes, stains, or missing threads. Any dark areas are shadows from photographing. These jackets can be worn for special occasions such as Halloween, or can be worn casually with denim, a skirt, or a dress. Many women have told me that they remember wearing a jacket like this when they were a child, but don't know whatever happened to it, and they wished they still had it. When your child outgrows this jacket, you should consider having it professionally framed so that it will be a fashion art keepsake for either you or your child and makes a great, colorful artwork.
