Description: This vintage lithographic postcard features a Chicago and Southern Airlines plane in flight. The caption on the reverse of the postcard advertises that C&S offers greater speed, comfort, and safety. The plane is a "new" Luxury Constellation. It was built by the Lockheed Corp. The Lockheed Constellation (Connie) was four engined and propeller driven. I was first built in 1943. It was the first civil airliner to be widely used with a pressurized cabin. This innovation allowed the commercial airplane passengers to fly above bad weather. This postcard was published by Chicago and Southern Airlines and is in excellent condition (see scans).
