Description: Charles Henry White (1878-1918) was born at Hamilton, Ontario, and was educated partly in Europe and partly in the United States. He studied for a time at the Art Student League in New York City, working at illustrations and especially pen drawing. It was Joseph Pennell, the prominent American etcher, whom Mr. White met in Venice, Italy, in 1901, who induced him to take up etching. Original etching, plate signed, [1903], tissue guard still attached, image approx. 3-1/4 x 4-7/8" plus margins. VG.
