Description: This is an original antique print from a book of drawings, HAPPY FAMILY, illustrated by Cecil Aldin and published in London, England in 1912. This particular book was published as a compilation of all the books in the Happy Family series. Each drawing in this particular black and white series is drawn on heavy construction type paper and matted in an off-white, high quality, acid free matte. TITLE: NONE PUBLICATION DATE: 1912 ARTIST: CECIL ALDIN CONDITION: VERY GOOD / NOT PERFECT -- The prints in this series are over 100 years old and have just a bit of foxing that can be seen in the pictures. Foxing is often found on authentic antique prints, as opposed to modern reproductions. The inner dimension of the print (the part showing inside the mat) is 5" x 7". Matted, the outer dimension measures 8" x 10". This is a standard size matte that will fit into a standard size frame—no costly custom frames required. About Cecil Aldin Cecil Aldin, successful in his own time as an illustrator of books and magazines, a painter, and a writer, was born in Slough, England in 1870. His art featured one of his lifelong passions, hunting. Aldin became famous for his watercolors and prints of foxhunting scenes in the English countryside, as well as his portrayal of the dogs, horses, and animals that were the center of these activities. Aldin, whose art has become increasingly popular over the years, is especially appreciated today for his special talent drawing dogs. Aldin, like Lucy Dawson, was able to capture the true character of the many dogs and breeds he studied. Aldin's talents, greatly appreciated by his contemporaries, resulted in a wide array of collectibles available today that bear his famous dog and farm animal images.
