Description: High-Performance Billet Impeller for Paxton® Superchargers CCW (Counter-Clock-Wise) Rotation Application: Paxton® 1200 and 1220 Superchargers US Patent Number D554,150 S The Original Billet High Performance Impeller. Accept No Substitutes! Background: The Impeller inside your Paxton 1200 is typical of superchargers designed about 20 years ago. Straight vanes, some curl at the inlet (top), and manufactured from a casting. The vanes cannot be curled much more than they are, or the impeller will not release from the mold when it is cast. The 928MS Impeller: With advances in 5-axis CNC milling, these impellers can now be cut from a single aluminum billet. This allows us to use higher-strength alloys, and machine it to closer tolerances. We cut in tighter inlet curls and progressive vanes that are computer-designed for optimum flow inside the volute. Our Manufacturing Process: Our process starts with having every piece of billet material UT (Ultrasonic Testing) inspected before machining. The high-quality 7075-T6 alloy is carefully machined to tolerances as tight as +/- 0.0003" in a lengthy 5-axis process (see photos below). After manufacturing, each and every impeller receives FPI Inspection (Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection). Although the billet process creates a uniform and perfectly symmetrical impeller, each impeller is spin balanced to 0.006 grams/inch, and designed to spin up to 60,000 rpm. This alone is a big help in making bearings last longer. Random-sampling inspection pulls an impeller out of the stream and they are over-speed tested to 72,000 rpm. These impellers are a real work of engineering art that will amaze you when you hold it in your hands. In-car and on-bench testing has shown that our impeller moves about 15% more air at the same RPM as the original one, and at produces about 15% greater PSI. The benefits of a coated impeller are LESS HEAT TRANSFER The anodized surface coating is insulative and doesn’t transfer heat as quickly as the naked aluminum does. This works in both directions – in low boost applications the heat of the gear housing is transferred up the shaft into the impeller and this heats the air. That’s bad. In high boost applications, the heat of the compressor are is transferred down the shaft into the bearings. That is also bad. RESISTANCE TO ABRASION Small sand particles get through the air filter and they shot-peen the impeller, causing damage to the surface. A coated impeller is much more impact and scratch resistant than a naked one.RESISTANCE TO CORROSION Uncoated impeller oxidize and corrode causing drag and weakening the impeller. Coated impellers don’t. IMPELLER SPEED CALCULATOR: How small a pulley can you safely run? That is controlled by your bearing quality, your shift point, and your pulleys sizes. https://928motorsports.com/installpdf/Impeller_Comparison_Article.pdf FREE INSTALLATION: Most competent mechanics can replace their own impeller without damage. Remove the scroll and one nut on the end of the impeller shaft. Slide the old impeller out, slide ours on. But, if you are all concerned about damaging it or shimming it correctly, simply ship the supercharger to us and we will install it and shim it for free. Just pay the shipping, that's all.CW and CCW: Your Paxton® may be a CW (Clock-wise) or a CCW (counter-clock-wise) model. How can you tell? Look at the pics we have provided on this listing and it will become obvious. This listing is for a CCW model, we also have a CW model listed. Shipping: Winner to pay $22 in S&H for the 48 contiguous states and will be shipped insured. Additional shipping fees apply for International - email us your address and we will get you a shipping quote. Returns: We want you to enjoy your purchase.
