Selecting the wattage of the GU10 Halogen Reptile Basking Heat Lamp determines the surface temperature of the basking spot. For example, we aim for 110-120 degrees with bearded dragons as measured with an IR Surface Temp Thermometer on a basking rock. Which wattage depends on several factors; the terrarium height and size, the ambient room temperature and in some locations, the season (summer/winter). Whichever wattage is selected should be checked initially with a surface temp thermometer, and seasonally verified.
