Description: CARL ORFF: DIE KLUGE on Columbia SAX 2257 & 2258 Ed1 Audiophile UK Imports NM CARL ORFF: DIE KLUGE on Columbia SAX 2257 & 2258 Ed1 Audiophile UK Imports NM Description Offered is the 1st Edition Stereo Audiophile Pressing of Die Kluge: The Story Of The King and The Wise Woman, by Carl Orff. This modern, Opera / Fairy Tale by Orff was first performed in 1943 in Frankfurt - however there are no known recordings of that performance. The photo you see on the front covers of our offering here is of a draft for the set of that first performance. These 2 LPs represent the Historic, First Recording of this Carl Orff Classic. Fitting that this First Recording would be on the highly-regarded Columbia Sax Label, and is also one of the earliest, Audiophile Stereo commercial releases (1956). Both of these LPs are in superb, investment-grade Near Mint condition, and were part of a collection of a German Orchestral Conductor. Wikipedia has a page about this marvelous composition. If you go to the Wikipedia site - copy Die Kluge and paste it into their search box, then click on The Opera. Each of the four sides retains all of the original gloss, and other than some light cosmetic sleevewear from the original inner sleeves, there are no marks on any side. The records have been carefully handled, and the stereo audio playback is impressive. BOTH OF THE COVERS - EX+ : Please see photos / laminated, flap-style covers / exceptionally well-stored / present on both covers is a small amount of peeling laminate / 2257 has a small corner tear on the front, lower right / 2258 has a faintly written number on the back cover, upper right flap / bright colors / sharp corners / minimal edgewear / all of the seams, including the spines, are intact / no other writing, paper loss, stains or dirt. Included are the original, Columbia Audiophile inner sleeves (please see photos). We have placed both of the covers into separate, protective plastic sleeves.
