Description: Critically acclaimed close-up magician Paul Harris has done it again by stunning the world with yet another piece of mind-blowing eccentric magic. Cardboard Connection, his fourth published release, and second single effect release, shows just how prolific an artist he is. Cardboard Connection is a close-up card effect which centers on the familiarity people have with the connection between magicians and the age-old Linking Rings. The centers of any two cards are openly torn out creating a pair of impromptu “rings”, which can be signed, are then instantly linked together! The two cards are actually seen to be connected through one another. The cards are then magically disconnected and are both immediately handed out for examination. Allan Ackerman, a long-time Las Vegas feature on the close-up scene, provided Paul assistance in tweaking this effect and wrote the forward while Dwight Dunaway provided the illustrations. Cardboard Connection was, to my best understanding, released in 1977 with the copyright owned by Magicians’ World out of San Diego; they produced an 8.5” x 7” stapled booklet which quickly sold out and are now extremely rare. The instant bestseller it was quickly acquired by D. Robbins & Co.,Inc whose distribution network was more primed to handle the larger distribution demand, and they chose the more cost-effective size of 8.5” x 5.5”stapled booklet. As sales finally dwindled it was acquired by at least one additional owner who currently prints copies on demand with a laser-printer (8.5” x 11” vertical printed, stapled along top,and bound with plastic covers). This copy of Cardboard Connection is of the third release and produced by Magic Classics Co. The facsimile is printed on high grade stock, covers are glare-resistant plastic, and none of the pages are marked or dog-eared. Truly a beautiful facsimile of this classic Harris release.
