Materials: Glass cover, leather case & gilt metal mount. Size: Sixth plate. Dimensions: Cases: 94mm long x 80mm wide. Photographers signiture: Unsigned. Condition: The image is in good condition. Minor scuffs to the case otherwise very good. Wear commensurate with age and use. Notes: A nice Victorian sixth plate ambrotype of Captain James Pusse, taken October 1862. A note says 'lost on the Queen Victoria'. I could only find a few ships that sunk with that name. The SS Queen Victoria, sunk 4 October 1866 near North Carolina, the H.M.S Victoria that was accidentally rammed and sunk, 22 June 1893 near Tripoli and the steamboat Victoria which sunk making a river crossing on May 24th 1881 in Ontario Canada.
