Description: Available here for your consideration is a nice pair of California or Spanish style spurs with leather straps which have big conchos. These vintage single mounted spurs have heel bands decorated with three silver buttons incised in a floral pattern with inlaid silver strips between each button. The shanks terminate in 20 point handmade rowels and have six incised strips with the chap guards accented by silver buttons. The floral carved leather bands feature conchos with a horse head design. The history of bits and spurs in North America begins with the Spanish who first came to the new world in the 1500s, bringing horses and livestock with them. The Spanish colonial style is the predecessor of the Californian and Mexican styles we know today. These spurs are fine examples of that heritage. Great for your spur collection. Great for your home or tack room decor. MAKER: There appears to be a mark near the spur button but it is illegible. APPROX AGE: Vintage (meaning somewhere between the 1930s to 1970s). SIZE: The heel openings measure 3 3/8 inches, the band width measures 7/8 inches and the shanks measure 3 5/8 inches long overall. CONDITION: Good for their age, normal wear and minor imperfections expected.
