Description: Offered is a nice cabinet photograph showing the mobilization of the Massachusetts National Guard Company “E”. This photograph was in Boston 1915. They were probably mobilized for service on the Mexican Border in 1916. The participation of the Massachusetts National Guard in the Mexican Border Service in the summer of 1916 was part of a larger campaign by the US Army to help quell raids and disturbances along the US Mexican Border by outlaws and bandits, including Poncho Villa. The Mexican Border Service proved to be important experience for the Massachusetts National Guard. The mobilization and training the Mexican Border Service helped to prepare the Massachusetts National Guard for combat during World War I. The image is about 6” x 8” and overall 10” x 12”.
