Description: Recent rural North Carolina estate find. This listing is for a beautiful, blacksmith forged, iron weather vane in a Spanish Hacienda style. We believe this is turn of the century or possibly late 1800's; could have originated from Spain, but most likely Mexico, Cuba, or another Western Spanish country. Definitely aged, but looks complete and still very solid, including a smooth spin on the axis. Craftsmanship is outstanding. Approximate maximum dimensions of 31 3/4" main arrow length and nearly 35" top to bottom. Very grand. We've seen and sold multiple similar designs with Betty Lamp spikes, game racks, and such, but never a piece this so immense. Incredible iron scroll work with a center, top cross, a rooster wind catcher, and very decorative arrow tail. Very primitive construction, yet elaborate details and definitely hand forged as you can see the folding of the metal, hammer marks and rough cuts.
