Description: I recently acquired a large set of Tea Leaf. Tea Leaf ironstone is a type of English or American china that features a motif of three leaves and a bud decorated with copper or gold luster. The pattern was originally called "Luster Band and Sprig" but became known as "Tea Leaf" because the leaf design resembled tea leaves. There was a superstition that it was lucky if a whole tea leaf unfolded at the bottom of your cup. This idea was translated into the pattern of dishes known as Tea Leaf. Hallmark: Alfred Meakin Royal Ironstone China Hallmark referring to "England" dates it from 1891 to the early 1900's since it doesn’t have 1930’s Smoot-Hawley required words “Made In”, but does have McKinley Tariff Act’s required country name. This item number: Side / Bread / Salad Plate Total quantity available (subject to prior sale): 1. Note, I have 5 other plates in this size & pattern. They do not have the underside discoloration shown in photos. See eBay item #235724767584 for these plates. Dimensions: 7" top diameter, 4.5" base diameter, 0.75" profile depth. Unpacked weight: Average 8.3 oz. Condition: Good usable condition. Mentionable issue: discoloration around kiln marks on underside as shown in photos. Visible crazing without discoloration. Paint and glaze intact with good color and without scratches or erosion. No chips, flakes, breaks, mends, repairs, cracks, hairlines, blemishes, or mentionable boo-boo's. Don't feel anything amiss when I run finger around edges. No signs of previous repair or restoration. Always happy to pass through discounts on combined shipping. I only charge actual postage, and always use recycled packing materials. Note some photos appear redundant because I take photos from all possible angles. On symmetrical items, these photos may appear redundant when there are no distinguishing differences or condition issues between side views. I gladly accept returns, but please note I do not pay return postage unless there was a significant error in my description. The item listed is being sold as is, as pictured and as described to the best of my knowledge. All dimensions and weights approximate. If you have a question or an assumption on an item prior to purchase, please ask. I much prefer to take the time on the front end to make sure you will be satisfied with your purchase. Remember, when buying vintage expect imperfections as these items have a history and have been in the possession of others. I try to list EVERY flaw which would be commented on something in an antique or vintage condition – this does not mean all imperfections resulting from normal wear & use require comment. My goal is to have no rude surprises upon receipt.
