A signed manuscript note and a printed invitation to 'An Octave' from surgeon and polymath Sir Henry Thompson WITH an original fine Woodburytype 'photograph' of him, 1890s. Manuscript note in black ink, on one side of a single small sheet of laid writing paper, addressed to 'My Dear Bennett' and signed 'H. Thompson', with Bennett's own annotation beneath. Together with a printed invitation on card to 'An Octave' at Thompson's home in Wimpole Street, London, with MS insertions in another hand in black ink. Together with an original oval-shaped Woodburytype 'photograph of Thompson, laid down to a sheet of thin card (from the illustrated work 'Men of Mark', published in London in the 1870s and 1880s). Central fold to MS note (fore edge and verso with some old mounting residue, but writing unaffected). Light marking and soling to invitation. Size: Woodburytype (whole sheet) - 27.2cm x 21cm / MS note - 14.2cm x 9cm / invitation - 11.5cm x 9.2cm.
