Description: c1869 Canton de Unterwalden, Switzerland Tinted Photograph Adolphe Braun Costume A beautiful, and rare, hand tinted photograph by Adolphe Braun which is part of his series Costumes de Suisse from circa 1869. The Canton of Unterwalden, Switzerland features an attractive young lady standing on on a hillside with a city view as her backdrop. She has a hand on her hip and one hand on a wood rail post. She is wearing a dress and bow typical of the region. The photo card measures approx 8 1/8" x 6 3/8" with the actual image sizing being about 6 1/4" x 4 1/2". I believe the photograph is of French origin and use the albumen silver print technique. Condition: tanning, foxing, spotting and board is wavy from moisture with edge wear.
