Description: c1860s Fab American Sterling Silver Bright Cut Engraved Large Shaker / CasterPresented is a fabulous American sterling silver shaker or caster. This piece dates to around the 1860s, and was retailed by Ford & Tupper of New York. We believe the piece was made by John Wendt. The caster is beautifully hand engraved with bright cut foliate and floral designs at various points around the body. The shaker has a tension mount lid which fits quite securely, it will not pop off while you're shaking the contents onto your food. The shaker is a good large size, good for pepper, cinnamon sugar, or whatever else you like. This piece is in great overall condition. The engraved designs are nice and crisp. There is some minor crimping to the top of the base where it joins the body which is hard to notice, please let the photos guide your judgment. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no cracks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs. The underside of the caster is stamped with the retail mark of Ford & Tupper of New York, as well as 925 sterling. The caster stands about 5 7/8 inches tall. The caster weighs 115 grams or 4.1 regular ounces. -jm Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
