THE BEARDED FIGURE APPEARS TO BE WEARING TROUSERS WITH MULTIPLE HORIZONTAL PLEATS, WHICH WERE UNIVERSALLY POPULAR IN PARTHIA BY THE FIRST CENTURY. SUCH PLEATED TROUSERS TOOK MORE FABRIC TO MAKE, AND DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF CLOTH, EMBROIDERY, AND EMBELLISHMENT, COULD BE REPRESENTATIVE OF A DISPLAY OF GREAT WEALTH AND NOBILITY. THIS TYPE OF TROUSER HELPED TO ESTABLISH A NATIONAL IDENTITY, AS OPPOSED TO A TRIBAL OR CULTURAL ONE, SINCE MANY DIFFERENT PEOPLES WERE A PART OF THE EMPIRE. THE TROUSERS WERE DISTINCLY PARTHIAN.
