Description: Offered is a vintage 1930s postcard depicting a photo image of a Wood & Polychromed Wood Statue of St. Barbara from the Lucy Maud Buckingham Memorial Collection housed at the Chicago Institute of Art. Statue is French, late 16 Century. St Barbara is considered one of the "Holy Helper" Saints. While she is a patron saint for various occupations and causes, she is best known as the Saint to invoke for protection against a sudden and violent death and, of being assured of receiving the last sacraments of the church before death.
