Description: On offer is an exceptionally rare and historic piece of 'Depression Era' Brown County Pottery redware figurine by Helen Griffiths, nee Dapprich (1878-1953). These figurines are considered the most charming of all the output by Brown County Pottery who were based in Indiana from 1932-1953. After much research we have only managed to find one other sold example online. This particular figurine would date circa 1937. The young lady would have been cast and decorated by Helen or possibly decorated by Thelma Schrougham, who was the only other employed decorator at Brown County Pottery at that time. Standing 7.7" tall, 5.15" wide, with a depth of 5", and weighing 1lb 6oz. Given that this figurine is almost a century old, it really is in fantastic all round condition, and its only fault is a small glaze chip to the rear, on the dress hemline. This piece is worthy of being displayed in a museum or any serious collection of 20th century American pottery. The figurine will be extremely well packaged, fully insured, and shipped promptly upon receipt of payment.
