BOOK TRAILS: To Enchanted Lands & For Baby Feet, Child Development Inc., c 1946

Description: Set of 2 Young Children's Story BooksBOOK TRAILS to Enchanted Lands BOOK TRAILS for Baby Feet Child Development Inc., Chicago, c. 1940s Here we have a pair of very fun children's story books published by Child Development Inc. of Chicago, with a 1946 copyright. One is called "Book Trails to Enchanted Lands" and the other is "Book Trails for Baby Feet." Both have large print and numerous illustrations, some in full color (see samples in the photos). The covers are hard-back with thick red embossed designs of a knight riding a horse in front of a castle. Each book is 9-5/8 inches by 7.25 inches, and about 0.75 inch thick. There is a front page missing in each volume, and the Baby Feet inside cover has a top corner cut off from the rest of the page. The page numbering is odd. Enchanted Lands goes from 1 (first number shown is 9, with 8 pages of front matter), ending at 164. Baby Feet first numbered page is 153 and ends at 320. (These are apparently from a larger series, but I can't explain the page numbering.) The Baby Feet volume also has visible wear to the front cover (see closeup photo). Both books show a bit of wear to the cover spines and edges, though they are still securely in place. Please note that these are products of their time, and there are a couple of stories and illustrations that many of us would find objectionable by today's standards (see photos for examples).
