Light wear consistent with age and use, Moderate wear to gold plating Beautiful and rare ceramic Art Deco footed plate tray by Boch Freres Keramis (Belgium) with a polychrome floral design and highlights in gold, also known as "Mikado" Decorated by Raymond Chevalier who was the artistic director at Boch (BFK/Keramis) from 1937-1954. The Boch manufacture was established in Belgian La Louvière by Jean-François Boch, one of main owners of another known company, Villeroy & Boch. The direction of Boch Freres SNC was in 1844 taken by Victor Boch. Around 1860 the production of polychrome pieces was started. Charles Catteau (1880 – 1966) was one the most versatile ceramic artist of his generation. He developed a first-sight excessive oeuvre during the period of the wars. In 1910, he received a gold medal for his designs, at the Exposition des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels of Paris. In 1937 Raymond Chevalier joined taking over as director of Boch Keramis after Charles Catteau. Before that he worked in the Faiencerie of Longwy and was present at the famous Exposition des Arts Décoratifs in 1925 in Paris. He was active at Boch until 1954.
