Dana A. Story took this photo at Hamilton-Wen ham station on a hot August afternoon back in 1 964. Three small boys and a businessman inspect the gleaming stainless steel train as it prepares to return to Boston after completing a pre-rush hour commuter run. REAR COVER Boston Et- Lowell Railroad No. 10, the Woburn, was built in their shops in 1850. Judging from the almost pristine inside-connected 4-4-0 the photograph may very well have been taken not long after that date, making it one of the oldest extant photos of the BErL engine. The locale is Woburn and in the left background can be discerned scaffolding about the steeple of a newly constructed church. This in itself may aid in dating the picture as possibly one of our members can identify the church and the year it was built. Note the vast amount of wood stockpiled for locomotive fuel, the prehistoric switch stands and the covered turntable pit. Also observe the first generation "motor" car at the far left.
