Measures 6 3/4 inches across at top of bowl. Height of bowl only is 4 1/2 inches Height with lid on is 7 inches to top of spiral finial/handle. Great NC pottery! Handles on each side. Old Fort offers the genuine small town charm that is so hard to find in today's world. Here is a bit of history about the area. Old Fort is about 25 min east of Asheville and is named for the original " old fort" that was established there prior to the Revolutionary War, called "Davidson's Fort." The mountain ridge between Old Fort and Black Mountain was at the time the boundary between land available for immigrant settlement to the east and Cherokee territory to the west. After the war, during which the Cherokee sided with their Bristish trading partners, the land west of that divide was open to settlement.
