This tree is native to central and southern Japan, and on the islands of Honshu and Kyushu. It is now widely cultivated as an ornamental plant. General Description: Semi-dwarf, evergreen tree/shrub with blue-green foliage. Can be grown as a bonsai. Hardiness Zone: 4 to 8 Maintenance: Low Mature Height: 5 to 20 feet Mature Width: 2 to 15 feet Plant Details: Growth Habit: Slow-growing in a densely pyramidal fashion. Leaf Structure: Needled evergreen that is soft to the touch. Blue-green in summer turning grey-ish blue in the winter, with silvery undersides. Stem Structure: Green, maturing to brown.
