Description: This beautiful jar is truly a mid-century modern masterpiece. It was designed by Aldo Londi for Bitossi Ceramiche as part of their "Provenzale" series. This series was produced in the late 1950s and early 1960s and distributed by Rosenthal Netter in the United States. The jar has an organic feel with its textured surface and earthy color palate, but the bold design speaks of Aldo Londi's efforts at Bitossi to bring their handcrafted ceramics into the modernist movement. Measurements are in item specifics. All measurements are approximate. No cracks. 1 tiny chip on the bottom edge of the lid (last photo), and there are a few places on the bottom of the lid where the glaze has chipped or is worn. There is crazing on the inside of the lid. The lid fits loosely, so I recommend holding the lid in place when carrying it. See photos for condition details.
