Description: This is a custom 12" figure commemorating one of the most well known outlaws and gunmen of the Old West, Henry McCarty, William H. Bonney better known as Billy the Kid. Billy is known for having killed 21 men by the time he died at age 21, one for each year of his life. Bonney was orphaned at age 15. He was arrested the first time at age 16 for stealing some food. Ten days later he robbed a Chinese laundry. Billy would escape and flee the area. He would kill a blacksmith in 1877 and end up in Arizona. Billy was thought to be very quick with a six-gun a well as a marksman. Pat Garrett is best known as being the man that killed Billy the Kid. Garrett was elected sheriff of Lincoln County, New Mexico in November 2nd 1880. His term was to start January 1, 1881. He was so anxious to begin his job to hunt down Billy the Kid Bonney that he was appointed as deputy for the remainder of the year. Garrett also received an appointment as Deputy US Marshall. That gave Garrett and his posse the authority to chase Billy and his gang into Mexico whenever they needed to. Garrett came close to getting the Kid a few times but missed. Then on July 14th, 1881 Garrett learned that Billy the Kid was staying at a mutual friend's house, Pete Maxwell. Garrett went to Maxwell's place that night. Billy woke up in another part of the house and walked into Maxwell's bedroom. Pat Garrett was waiting in the shadows. Billy could not tell who the man in the shadows was so he called out "Quien es (who is it) quien es" ... Garrett replied by shooting Billy the Kid twice. The first shot hit Billy right above the heart killing him immediately. Many people thought of Garrett as an assassin and the Kid a folk hero. Garrett would write a book telling his story. There have been several books and movies about Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. Billy the Kid is definitely one of the most well known outlaws (he and Jesse James probably top two) of the old West. Please note that while the figure does not look exactly like Billy the Kid, there is a good resemblance. Figure designed mainly for display purposes for the wild west fan. PLEASE NOTE-gunbelt and holster custom made. metal Colt six-gun and metal Winchester rifle made by stevos. also note - stand included. PLEASE NOTE- the pants had to be altered in the back to fit the figure properly (see pic)- sold as is. This would make a nice addition to any collection. Please note the following-when a figure is a custom figure that means it is not a licensed product,or "official" but something the customizer did by combining figures and accessories from different makers and toy releases to come up with the custom figure or figures. I started customizing figures a few years back because I couldn't find more than a handful of "official" releases and unable to find figures of people I wanted to collect. I checked in to the market of custom figures. Most of the custom figures available back then cost several hundred dollars, so, I started doing my own. Because I needed to support my new hobby, I started selling some custom figures. My prices reflect my acquisition cost, time involved, and some profit. Thanks for the look, have fun shopping!
