Bill Madlock had an outstanding Major League career, coming up with the Texas Rangers in 1973, playing for the Chicago Cubs 1974-1976 winning his first two NL Batting titles. After spending 1977-79 with the Giants, he came to the Pittsburgh Pirates Lumber Company of the 1970s, winning two more National League Batting Championships. Madlock, along with Dave Parker and Willie Stargell, helped the Pirates to the 1979 World Series Championship. He would go on to play for the Dodgers and Tigers 1985-1987 before finishing his career in Japan. Traded to the Dodgers for a playoff run in 1985, he hit 3 home runs in the Championship Series as they lost to the Cardinals. Traded to Detroit in 1987, he again reached the postseason with the Tigers. Madlock's four batting titles are the most of any player not in the Hall of Fame. After his playing career with the Tigers, he became a Major League coach, and minor league Manager. He later taught kids hitting at an academy in Los Vegas.
