Description: ARNOLD, Major Henry H. Bill Bruce Becomes an Ace. New York: A.L. Burt Company, (1928). Octavo, publisher’s pictorial green cloth, title gilt-stamped to spine and upper board, original dust jacket. First edition of the third title in Henry “Hap” Arnold’s popular “Aviator Series” for young readers. Hap Arnold served as commander of the U.S. Army Air Forces throughout World War II, founded what would become the military think-tank the RAND Corporation in 1945, and became the first general of the Air Force shortly after its founding in 1947. He wrote his popular series of boys’ books while stationed at the sleepy cavalry post of Fort Riley, Kansas in the late 1920s. Book very good with occasional soiling to text and top edge papers; scarce and colorful original dust jacket very good with edge wear and chipping, particularly to ends of spine and flap folds. Overall a handsome copy of a book rarely found in dust jacket. We ship fast. We also have #4, 5, and 6 in this series. Email for a great combined price.
