Description: This is Vol 1, a 576 page hardcover book and a 16 page index. Its a 1851 Edition ( the earliest I have seen) May be a first edition. This book appears to have been rebound by a bindery in Scranton PA. probably in the early 20th century. Book has some aging & yellowing with some age spotting. No water damage or rips or tears. It appears to be totally intact with no pages missing, no folded corners. I am not a book guy, so I say it as I see it. I personally think it is in remarkable condition for a 173 year old book about our Independence. a lot of the information could have come from historical writings, word of mouth & diaries from the late 1700's.
