Description: THIS ANTIQUE 1890S TO 1900S R. & J. BECK "STAR" MICROSCOPE IS BRASS WITH NICKEL FINISH. IT HAS THAT COOL CAST IRON TRIANGLE BASE AND 2 LENSES ON A BAUSCH SWIVEL PIECE. THE LENSES ARE MARKED BECK, ONE IS 1/6, THE OTHER 2/3. I BELIEVE THE EYEPIECE AT TOP IS GONE, SEE PICS. IT COMES WITH A LOCKABLE WOOD CASE, 11 3/4"TALL, 5 1/2"X 4 1/2"TRIANGLE BASE, BOX 14 1/8"X 7 1/4"X 8 1/4"DEEP. IT IS IN AS FOUND CONDITION, EYEPIECE MISSING AS NOTED. THERE IS OVERALL SURFACE WEAR AND SCRATCHING FROM USE; THE BRASS IS SHOWING THROUGH WHERE TOUCHED OVER ITS LIFE. GEARS SEEM TO WORK FINE. MIRROR HAS SILVER LOSS BOTH SIDES. BOX IS GOOD BUT THERE IS WOOD SHRINKAGE ON BACK, SEE PICS. THERE IS WRITING AND TAPE MARKS ON BOX; KEY WORKS TO LOCK, BUT IT DOES NOT QUITE LINE UP.
