I have been selling amber fossils for over 15 years on eBay and do not sell fake amber only genuine material from now extinct plant sources not glass or plastic embedded with present day inclusions. Up for purchase is a large, 28.3 gram piece of rare, untreated amber from the region of West Sumatra Island, Indonesia with a beautiful blue with black stripes coloration when natural sunlight is shining on it.A large portion of this piece is polished while the remainder is in the rough as mined.The color may vary depending upon how sunlight is striking it also.The piece weighs 28.3 grams (around 140 carats) and has an approximate length of 37 mm, a width of 33 mm and 22 mm height. Indonesian amber is a recent find. This amber possesses a beautiful color. I also offer blue and green amber from other areas of Indonesia. The color can rival that of the finest Dominican and Chiapas (Mexican) amber. The color appears best when light is shining on rather than through the piece and is due to the natural, untreated, chemical fluorescent properties of the amber. It was mined from the earth in the Indonesian province of Sumatra or Sumatera (western region). No treatment of any kind was done to this to enhance the color. I may also have listed pieces of East Kalimantan, Bunyu Island Blue amber, Sulawesi Blue amber, and West Papua Blue amber for sale which exhibits a unique blue sometimes violet color also. Please note that the saltwater test to identify real from fake amber is not reliable. The saltwater test claims that real amber will float in saltwater while fake amber will sink. However, many amber sources or even specimens will not float in saltwater as their botanical (plant) composition as well as fossil inclusions are such that they are more dense than saltwater and so sink.
