Description: Bavaria Tirschenreuth 2 Luncheon Plates 8 3/8" Florida #4241 Parrots 1903-1927 Exquisite Decorative 8 3/8" LUNCHEON PLATES Smooth Rim Set of 2, Beautiful FLORAL SPRAYS w/PARROTS & Green Leaves, GOLD Trim, from Tirschenreuth, Bavaria, Germany, circa 1903-1927 DESCRIPTION: The beautiful luncheon plates with the Florida pattern #4241were hand decorated with a parrot in a floral spray with leaves in a large bouquet in the center of the plate. Next to the rim is a 3/4" wide band of floral designs with 5 cartouches also containing the parrot. The design looks so classic. The rims are trimmed in gold while the verge unadorned. This makes a beautiful display or can be used everyday. Please check our eBay store for other Tirschenreuth plates of the same pattern. CONDITION: While this set is classified as used, the condition is excellent. The only issues are age appropriate wear on the center medallion and the gold on the rim of the plates. There are also very minor utensil marks that are visible when the plates are turned at just the right angle in bright light. See the photos. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches or hairlines. The photos show a full frontal view of each plate with additional close-ups. DIMENSIONS: The luncheon plates have a diameter of 8 3/8" with a height of 1". HISTORY/MARKS: Carl Magnus Hutschenreuther formed his company in 1814 in Hohenberg an der Eger, Bavaria and his son, Lorenz Hutschenreuther formed his company in 1857 in Selb, Bavaria. This latter company acquired P.T. Porcelain Factory in 1927 and then in 1969 was merged with the former company and continued operation as Hutschenreuther AG (Selb, Bavaria) until 1994 when the Tirschenreuth factory was closed due to bankruptcy. This set has the underglaze "P.T." Bavaria Tirschenreuth Germany mark on it. The P. T. Bavaria Porcelain Factory Tirschenreuth was founded in 1838 in Tirshenreuth, Bavaria. After Hutschenreuther purchased the pottery in 1927, the mark was modified. The mark on this is cited as mark #755 in Robert E. Rontgen’s Marks on German, Bohemian and Austrian Porcelain 1710 to the Present and was used from 1903-1927. Please view all pictures carefully as they are part of the description.
