In later models, slits were added to the spool, but this reel does not have a slit in the spool arbor. The original MacKenzie reel used cork for the drag, but it was not very user-friendly, as the roller bearings would malfunction due to oil and dirt adhering to them. Bauer is of course aware of this problem, and the new model uses a floating disc drag that uses carbon for the drag washer. MacKenzie reels are famous for being particularly well-suited to spey casting, and this model also follows the traditional design, but has increased the number of portings to make it relatively lightweight at 152 grams. The line capacity is also good, with the WF6F holding over 200 meters of 20-pound backing. This is a great deal, as the suggested retail price for this high-end model was $600 when it was released. Accessories include a neoprene pouch, outer box, instruction manual and registration card. It is in excellent condition with only a small scratch on the tip of the reel foot.
