These hardcover graphic novels collect the entirety of the legendary run on "Batman" in the mid-90s by writer Doug Moench, penciller Kelley Jones, and inker John Beatty, which followed "Knightfall." A truly unique take on Batman and Gotham City, Moench, Jones, and Beatty (or "Da Boyz," as they were known in the letter columns) deliver suspense, horror, and action in equal parts, with Jones proving a singular, grotesque, terrifying vision of Batman, his foes, Gotham City, and a wide range of supporting characters and guest stars. Jones' cape and cowl - long, full-bodied, and flowing - are second to none, and the villains include The Joker, Man-Bat, The Penguin, Clayface, Killer Croc, The Scarecrow, Mr. Freeze, Two-Face, and others, along with guest stars like Deadman, Swamp-Thing, The Spectre, and Demon Etrigan. Collects "Batman" #515-525, 527-532, and 535-552. For decades, it was thought this run would never be collected by DC - so much so, that I bound my own version of the comics (Batman #522 is the very first comic book I owned!). Then DC surprised us by not only releasing these collections, but by doing it in a lovely hardcover set.
