This floor vase has an hourglass shape with an undulating pattern full of warm browns, whites, yellows, greens, and reds imitative of foliage. The back of the vase is dark brown and the artist's chopmark and date are near the base.Barry Unitas Barnes received his BFA in Ceramics from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1990 and his MFA in Ceramics from Arizona State University in 1994. Today, he is an Assistant Professor of Art at Franklin College, and teaches Ceramics, 3D Foundations, and Art History. Previously, he has taught art at the University of Indianapolis, Arizona State University, the Indianapolis Art Center, and his own private studio in Beech Grove, Indiana.
