Description: This is a custom 12" figure of Robert Conrad portraying Greg (Pappy )Boyington from the tv series Baa Baa Black Sheep that ran on NBC from September 23rd, 1976 thru April 6th, 1978. The series was based on one of my favorite real life heroes Gregory "Pappy" Boyington an American combat pilot and fighter ace (awarded the Medal of Honor and Navy Cross)from WWII. Boyington was a member of the Flying Tigers early in WWII. Later he was part of the Marine/Navy group known as the Black Sheep. The series staring Robert Conrad as Pappy Boyington (he was called Gramps then later Pappy as he was 10 years older than most of the men that flew under him)was about a real person (the show was loosely based on him)that took over a band of misfit fighter pilots that were the terror of the Japanese forces in WWII. The great thing about this series for me was that one of my favorite actors- Robert Conrad was portraying someone that I had read a lot about and considered a hero. The series was only on for a couple of seasons but had great believable stories. The real life Pappy was an advisor on the series. You can find this series sometimes on channels that play old tv shows. While this figure does not look exactly like the character or the actor, there is a bit of a resemblance. This figure displays well and is fairly articulate. stand included. sold as is.
